Primary 7's End of Year Trip to Slieve Gullion
The Primary 7 children in Miss Gilsenan's class had a wonderful day today climbing up Slieve Gullion - the highest point of Co. Armagh! Column Clarke, our main instructor, met us in school first thing this morning and gave us all of our gear. We had walking boots, socks, a hat, a raincoat and a rucksack. Some of us even had to carry tents and cooking equipment!
The walk really challenged us all, but there was so much to see and learn about. From the top, we could see over 100 miles of land! We got to go inside an ancient burial chamber and visit the 'magical lake' on the summit of the mountain which, myth tells us, turns your hair grey almost immediately!
We loved spending the day exploring together. We got to sit in shelter tents to eat our lunch (which was very exciting) and on the way down the mountain, we got some yummy hot chocolate which was heated up for us!
We had a really memorable day!
