Congratulations, Canon Kearney
At our First Friday Mass on June 1st we marked the occasion with Canon Kearney for his Golden Jubilee of being ordained a priest.
Just like each of us,
Canon Kearney is made in the image and likeness of God.
He rises each day
Not for himself
But always for others.
God handpicked him from a myriad of souls
Moulded him since he was a child
And prepared him for a journey
Not for himself
But always for others.
God blessed him with wisdom and understanding
To give form to his plans
And to carry them out
Not for himself
But always for others.
Mary walks with him
Guiding and loving him
For to her, he is like Jesus
Living a life not for himself
But always for others.
He holds the Body of Christ
Embraces Jesus’ name and proclaims it
He is shepherd and counsellor, friend and confessor
Not for himself
But always for others.
May God forever bless him
May he walk with him and carry him when his feet are weary
May he bring peace and joy to his heart
For through him we grow closer to God.
Amen.
