St. Dallan's Primary School, Warrenpoint combined with Cumann Pheadair Naofa, as part of the Club/School Link, hosted their annual GAA Health & Wellbeing Day for Primary 7 pupils on Monday 18th June.

The fun packed day commenced with a morning workshop for the 70 Primary 7 pupils where they were addressed by Club Health and Wellbeing Officer Katrina Kernan on the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle combined with good dental hygiene. As part of National Smile Month, the Primary 7 pupils enjoyed participating in a two-minute tooth brush-athon!

In keeping with tradition, the pupils took park in an art competition, relating to a club GAA theme. This year the pupils made posters reflecting Cumann Pheadair Naofa’s participation in the upcoming National Football Feile. Prizes, which were sponsored by the club, were presented to; (first prize) Shaena McBurney, Cliodhna Martin and Amy Clifford; (second prize) Ciara Carr, Matthew Lynch and Muirin Sneddon; (third prize) Sydney Barnett, Paige McKevitt and Emily Lynch at the concluding presentation.

Healthy Eating was one of the key themes delivered through the morning seminar. Maura McMenamin from GAA Ulster Council delivered an excellent interactive presentation outlining the key elements of healthy eating, highlighting the importance of leading healthy lifestyles. Equally popular was the GAA Road Safety programme delivered by Fionntan O'Dowd, also from GAA Ulster Council.

In keeping with the healthy lifestyle theme, pupils enjoyed a healthy lunch prepared by the staff in the school canteen.

Coaching was the focus of the afternoon activities with pupils enjoying Gaelic Football, Camogie and Hurling. All pupils participated in energetic coaching sessions delivered by club coaches from Cumann Pheadair Naofa.
