In keeping with the school's child centred approach, which is reflected in the various policies in the context of pastoral care, the school has sought ways to ensure that the three spacious playgrounds are used effectively to enable pupils to have access to a safe, happy, secure play environment.

The organisation of the playgrounds ensures that:

  • each year group has a designated playground during lunch and break time
  • each year group is supervised by both teachers and classroom assistants
  • each playground is within easy access to classrooms and bathroom facilities

Primary 1

P1 use the bespoke P1 playground with access to the following facilities:

  • soft play area
  • free play
  • outdoor toys/ games

Primary 2 & 3

P2 & P3 share the Junior Playground during the 1st break and 1st lunch timeslots, with access to:

  • running track
  • designated areas for variety of games
  • free play area
  • range of toys and games available for play
  • football pitch
  • netball court

Primary 4

P4 have the Senior Playground to themselves during the 1st break and 1st lunch timeslots, with access to:

  • netball court
  • grass area
  • running track
  • designated areas for football
  • basketball hoops
  • designated areas for variety of games (skipping, hoops, hopscotch, ball games)

Primary 5 & 6

P5 and P6 share the Senior Playground duting the 2nd break and 2nd lunch timeslots, with access to:

  • netball court
  • grass area for a variety of games
  • running track
  • designated areas for football
  • basketball hoops
  • zoned areas for variety of games (skipping, hoops, hopscotch, ball games)

Primary 7

P7 have the Junior Playground to themselves during the 2nd break and 2nd lunch timeslots, with access to:

  • running track
  • designated areas for variety of games
  • free play area
  • football pitch
  • netball court
